It is the most common and protective method of the gingiva disease treatments. The tartars called plaque are removed. The plaque is an adhesive material and mostly made of bacteria. The plaque is hardened in time and the tartars are formed. What To Do After Tartar Cleaning?

There may be a light pain and hot and cold sensitivity which will disappear in two-three days after the treatment. After the tartar cleaning and root surface smoothing, in case of any pain aggreviating oral hygiene in particular, germicidal mouthwashes are used. You should go on using tooth brush and dental floss at the same time. There may be a slight bleeding on the first day after the tartar cleaning and tooth root smoothing.

Gingivectomy And Gingivoplasty

Gingivectomy is the removal proceeding of gingiva tissue surgically. Gingivoplasty is the reshaping of healthy gingiva tissues around the tooth. These proceedings are carried out by the periodontists specialized in the diseases of tooth surrounding tissued and gingiva. Gingivectomy is a treatment developed for gingiva disease treatment. It is used for the aesthetical regulations nowadays.

There are two reasons for removal of the gingiva tissue. The first reason is that there are gingiva pockets between the tooth and gingivas. It is obligatory to clean the food particles and bacteria gatherings in these areas. If these pockets contains gingiva tissues they could be removed with gingivectomy.

In some cases, there may be too much gingiva around the tooth. This hampers to keep the tooth and gingiva clean. This is also a cosmetic problem. It may hamper chewing and talking on serious levels. Some drugs could result in overgrowth of gingiva like in the cases of epilepsy. There may not be a certain reason sometimes.

The teeth will have more natural appearance if they are shaped with gingivoplasty. The bad-shaped or asymmetric gingivas because of genetical, pathological or treumatical reasons could be fixed with this operation.

This operation could be only because of the cosmetic needs. Gingivoplasty is carried out on its own in general. However, in some cases, it is used after the gingivectomy or graft application added to gingiva on the gingiva line.

Gingiva Flap Surgery

In gingiva flap surgery, gingivas are separated from teeth and curled temporarily. Hence, the dentist could see tooth root and dental bone.

The aim of the gingiva flap surgery is the treatment of gingiva (periodontitis) disease. This operation is recommendable for the people with medium or advanced level. If the gingiva infection cannot be removed with a non-surgical method, the gingiva flap surgery is used. The gingiva flap surgery is applicable with bone surgery, another operation.
